North Yorkshire Chorus , Choir of 80 members from all around the County. New members welcomed. 2 or 3 concerts per year at various venues in North Yorkshire (eg: Ampleforth, Ripon Cathedral) with professional soloists and orchestras. The choir went to Hong Kong to sing Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in the Cultural Centre in June 2000, a joint concert with the Hong Kong Bach Choir. Sheffield Bach Society, A mixed choral society of some 60 voices, performs choral works not only by Bach, but also by a wide range of composers from before Bach's time to the present day. Six main concerts are given per season (with occasional smaller ones), usually in St Mark's Broomhill, Ecclesall Parish Church or Sheffield Cathedral. Wakefield Festival Chorus. Rehearsal venue/time: St John's Parish Centre, Bradford Road, Wakefield.Tuesdays at 7.30pm. We are a relatively small mixed choir (approx 35-40 members), but our repertoire is wide ranging, e.g. from performing large scale sacred works in churches/cathedrals down to concerts in local venues in conjunction with school choirs and brass bands. Harrogate Philharmonic Orchestra

Harrogate Symphony Orchestra  Contact Presents concerts of interesting music in the chamber, symphonic and 20th century orchestral repertoire in a pleasant social atmosphere. As soloists, musicians at the start of promising careers as well as artistes of national and international standing are engaged.

Hessle Sinfonia. The main concert venue for the Hessle Sinfonia is Longcroft School, Beverley. The society is an amateur orchestra, priding itself on its friendly atmosphere. We usually give 3 concerts per year, in March/April, June/July and November. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7:30-9:30pm. The wind and percussion sections are currently complete but string players are always welcome. Contact

  Hull Philharmonic Society. As one of the oldest established orchestras in the UK (1881), Hull Phil over the years has attracted many world class conductors and soloists to perform with the orchestra. Rehearsals Wednesday 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Three concerts each season in November, February and May in Hull City Hall. In celebration of the Millennium the orchestra and local choral societies are joining forces to give two performances of Mahler's monumental 'Symphony of a 1000' on 27 and 28 November 1999." Contact

Hull Serenata, The

Ilkley New Horizons Concert Orchestra. A friendly and welcoming mixed ability orchestra that meets for fun, and a very occasional concert, on Friday afternoons between 2.00 and 4.00 p.m at the Clarke Foley Centre, Ilkley (except August, Christmas and Easter). The orchestra's extensive library ranges from light music to symphonies and other works by composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Membership is open to people over the age of 50, and we are always ready to welcome new recruits - particularly players of strings, brass and percussion. York Guildhall Orchestra, The The York Guildhall Orchestra was founded in 1980 in response to the suggestion that there was a number of talented players in the York area who would enjoy exploring the repertoire of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and that there was an audience who would enjoy listening. Twenty years on, the orchestra has made its mark on the cultural life of York and the surrounding area, establishing itself as one of the premier amateur orchestras in the area. Contact

The curriculum comprises orchestral sessions held each morning and early evening leaving afternoons free for chamber playing or relaxation in the historic city of York.
